Canada Jacks opens December 8

Sunday December 4, 2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Simple Truth Theatre’s new play
“Canada Jacks”
Opens Thursday, December 8th
at Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace.

One American’s search for the Canadian Grail ends in a bar.

Jack is a proud American who loves Canada. He has been on a life long search for Canadifacation or what he calls the Canadian Grail. He is the proprietor of a Canadian themed bar in Detroit, Michigan and his bar is his strongest link to all things Canadian.

We meet Jack at a crossroads in his life. He is facing the imminent closure of his bar and the loss of his Canadian dream. Jack shares with us stories and impersonations of some of the regulars and other memorable people he has met on his search for his Canadian Grail. Jack loves America but he always sees the benefits of a Canadian perspective. With every breath he encourages us to support and learn from each other.

“Canada Jacks” is a one-man play written and directed by Xavier MacDonald, designed by Ed Rosing and features Richard Beaune in the title role of Jack. The play is based on the book “The Province of Calgary” by American author Lee Larson
