Canada Jacks is based on the book “The Province of Calgary” by Lee Larson
Lee was born and raised just north of Windsor, Ontario (Detroit, Michigan to be exact). His theatrical career began in 1949, when he was chosen to play Joseph in the Escanaba Methodist Church Summer Bible School production of Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors. Later, he delivered the opening line in his high school’s Senior Play performance of Shaw’s Anthony and Cleopatra, “Try yet again, O Persian – double or nothing.”
After University, he joined the Royal Oak (Michigan) Civic Theater, where he played Patrick in Auntie Mame and Fredrick in A Far Country. In 1965, he won the prestigious Jules Parnes Best Actor Award for his performance in the title role of Another Island. He also wrote and performed the words and lyrics for the music in that production and collaborated with the playwright, having suggested the poignant lines that concluded the second act, “Frankly, Jane, I don’t give a damn. The sun will come up tomorrow – you can bet your bottom dollar. Anyway, here’s looking at you, kid.” |

Actor & Author, Trapped in Tafetta Leslie Seiler hails from Halifax, Nova Scotia and has been performing in community theatre, shopping malls and yes, eventually the stage for six years. Although some of her favorite character creations remain: The Bingo Lady and Penelope, the Cape Bretoner in love with a host from Breakfast Television (don't ask), she is always looking out to create a new one. This inspired her to create the more than thirty characters that live in Trapped in Taffeta. Leslie has performed two summers with Festival Antigonish in Nova Scotia as a member of the young company (Blithe Spirit, Wind in the Willows, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and in their late night improv series. She has been in Toronto for only a year and a half, since she graduated from Dalhousie University's acting program, and has been attending classes with both Second City and Theatresports Toronto in order to follow her first love of comedy and improv. In the spring, Leslie can be seen on YTV's new improv comedy series - "Don't Lick the Pig" (again, don't ask). Leslie looks forward to doing more writing because she feels that life is full of great, warm and funny moments - if you stop and look. |
